Toronto vet clinic, Yonge Street Animal Hospital, located on Yonge street between Eglinton and Lawrence, has been providing veterinary services to the Toronto community for almost 100 years, having first opened its doors in 1937 under the careful experienced eye of Dr. J.A. Campbell, when it was known as the Campbell Animal Hospital.
Through storied decades, the clinic has provided pet health care and management to dogs and cats as a full service companion animal hospital with a commitment to quality veterinary care through generations. From 1946 to 1954 under Dr. N. Scollard, From 1954-1962 under Dr. Wingrove and for 35 years, from 1962 to 1996, under Dr. Andre Belaiche.
In 1996, Yonge Street Animal Hospital was purchased by Dr. Michael Belovich, a graduate of Carleton University (BSc; Biology; 1985) and the Ontario Veterinary College (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine; 1990). Dr. Belovich is a frequent guest on Animal Housecalls on CP24 and The Animal Planet often with Alejandro Gaga Socks Belovich Escamilla, the family poodle and clinic goodwill ambassador in tow.
A proponent and advocate of animal health and welfare, Dr. Belovich is a member of the pioneering Cuban Canadian Veterinary Cooperation initiative and the Spanky Project. The Spanky Project is a Not-for-Profit Organization that facilitates humanitarian veterinary projectsin Cuba.
In addition to Dr. Belovich, the Yonge Street Animal Hospital team also includes Dr. Crozier, groomer and associate technician Ali Solman (who has been with Dr. Belovich and Yonge Street Animal Hospital since 1996), technicians, client care associates, Jeffrey the resident clinic cat, and "Kate" and "Pipa" the gerbils. (As well as the previously named goodwill clinic ambassador and family poodle Alejandro Gaga Socks Belovich Escamilla -- a name that truly bears repeating.) Ali and Alejandro are pictured at left.
